Jiřího z Poděbrad Square
Oil on canvas
90 x 70 cm
What inspiried me to make this painting was a casual autumn walk in the Jiřího z Poděbrad Square in Prague’s Vinohrady district. The first thing you spot in the square is a monumental building – The Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Our Lord. After a while of roaming around the square I noticed another interesting structure that I wasn´t able to identify. It seemed a little bit strange to me, especially as it was placed so closed to the church. This scenery appeared intriguing. I liked the contrast between the two very different objects – one being religious and the other technical and functional structure. What made me even more attraced to it was the graffiti on its walls.
